This is Dawn's Makeup Tutorial as she is playing a dead person in the horror trailer. From the first half Dawn has done her makeup herself but towards the middle section, Sabrina takes over and does more of the makeup being applied to her neck and to make her face appear more scary. It would've been harder to get Dawn to apply makeup to her neck as she wouldn't of been able to see what she was doing clearly. Dawn decided to research makeup tutorials on YouTube and follow the tutorial step by step to create the perfect look. The video she decided to follow was a Youtube Guru called: Dulce Candy, her video was called 'La Llorona (The Weeping Woman) Halloween Tutorial', I've inserted the clip in here to show the comparison of the makeup. Dawn's makeup closely resembled the makeup done by Dulce Candy. Dawn and I went to a party store in Croydon called 'Party Superstores' to get all of the props and makeup for our horror trailer. We bought fake blood and face paints to recreate the look.
I edited the video in IMovie and consulted Dawn with any decisions regarding the video effects, the sound and any other things regarding the video. The filming itself took over an hour so I cut some scenes out and sped the video up from normal speed to really fast. The reason the footage was sped up so much is because it would've been boring for an audience to sit through an hour worth of footage watching someone put on makeup but this way it's still easy to see what she's doing in just a smaller time frame.
I muted all of the audio from the footage as there was people talking in the background or Dawn was talking herself and it wasn't needed in the video. Instead of having talk I found some soundtracks from horror films on the internet to put over it. The first theme song that I came across was 'Dead Silence theme song' but the song didn't last as long as the movie so I had to get rid of it and find another one. The second theme song that I came across was 'Children Of The Corn theme song', this soundtrack I found had the same problem as the Dead Silence one and was way too short for the video. I needed a song that could last over three minutes just so it could continue running throughout the whole footage. With the Dead Silence and Children Of The Corn soundtracks, I wanted to apply them twice as I really liked them but you could tell where the overlap was. In the end I found 'One Missed Call' soundtrack and it lasted long enough and I enjoyed the movie so I figured it could work. It doesn't sound that scary but it was taken from a horror movie so it fits well with the concept of the tutorial Dawn created.
To make the video have an effect I clicked into the footage and changed the video effects from normal to romantic. Of all the effects the romantic effect looked the best on the video as it gave off a ghostly effect and Dawn represents a dead person so it fits well with the narrative of our trailer. I tested out 5 different effects and they made the video look weird and not the effect that I was looking for. As soon as I started editing the footage, I knew I wanted an effect on the video before I even made it just because I think it would look better to watch for an audience.
